After two second place finishes the week prior in the weight throw and shot put, Alexa Poling broke through for her first collegiate victory in the weight throw at the Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge. Poling started the event with a foul but followed up on her second throw with a distance of 13.84-meters (45-5), a career-best, and for good measure extended her lead on the last throw with a toss of 13.86-meters (45-5 3/4) to get to seventh all-time in the Capital record books. Shortly thereafter, she took to the circle for the shot put and managed a silver medal to complete her day in Berea.
